TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I just graduated from Miami University, Oxford in May and this is my first year teaching. I am working at an urban school that focuses more on project based and collaborative learning as opposed to reading from textbooks and filling out worksheets. We try to make learning as engaging as possible for our students by allowing them to do hands on activities and create an interest in their own learning. Our school has combined grade levels so I am currently teaching in a 5th and 6th grade classroom. I am also co-teaching with another teacher, since we have 48 students within our classroom. My content areas are math, reading and social studies. The experience has been wonderful so far, seeing my students teach and learn from each other, as well as working with students who don't have access to most of the things other kids have.
