I have had the privilege of teaching all elementary school subjects across grades three and four for the past six years. Currently, I am pursuing a Masters in Literacy with a Supervising Endorsement, and my coursework has provided me with an opportunity to learn the most up to date and research based instructional methods for Langugae Arts. I have experience with designing and implementing lessons in shared reading, guided reading, Writer's Workshop, and Everyday Math. In my district, I work on committees to develop curriculum for Language Arts, Science, and Math. In addition, I run workshops to help fellow teachers become more proficient with the use of our interactive Promethean Board technology.
I integrate technology across the curriculum through my use of the Promethean Board. Every lesson I teach in all subjects involves interactive flipcharts with visuals, as well as embedded hyperlinks, videos, and sound clips. I believe wholeheartedly in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of my diverse community of learners. I create engaging literacy and math centers to motivate my students, which provide them with task choices based on their varied learning styles. By using assessment data to drive my instruction, I can effectively engage students in small group instruction and confer individually with them o target their specific needs in math, readig, and writing.
