As an entry level teacher, I have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of different classroom settings. During my student teaching I taught a 3rd grade general education classroom in an urban school. I also taught a special education class with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in a suburban school. During my literacy practicums I worked one on one with 4 different students in order to enhance their reading and writing abilities. Another great experience I had was being the lead 5th grade teacher for a hands on science classroom. This experience taught me a lot about the use of project based learning. I was also a building substitute in an urban school and taught all different grade levels ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade. Lastly, I taught in a first grade inclusion classroom in an urban school.
As an entry level teacher, I have had quite a bit of experience in a variety of different classrooms. I have taught in an urban setting, rural setting, inclusion classrooms, general education classrooms, self contained classrooms, literacy rooms and resource rooms. One thing I have noticed between all of these experiences, is the importance of engaging and motivating lessons. As a teacher, I always try to incorporate the interest of my students in order to engage them in active learning. Interactive lessons are a great way to help students learn and retain information. I am a passionate teacher who always tries to understand the perspective and views of each and every student in my classroom. I truly value the rapport I build with each student. I believe a strong rapport is the basis for a great school experience for both the student and teacher!
