I have had a variety of experiences working with children. My most notable experiences include working as a camp counselor with kids ages 4-7, doing Tier II reading intervention at a local Title I school, student teaching in a 4th grade resource room last spring, and most recently, working as a part-time teacher at Kahalu’u Elementary summer school. I am currently working in a 3rd grade general education classroom.
My favorite thing about teaching is getting to know my students. I love knowing their interests, hobbies, habits, anything and everything. I firmly believe that by knowing my students' strengths and weaknesses I will be able to provide the best instruction for them. As a general educator, I want my students to be self-directed learners who learn about what they are passionate about and explore new and unfamiliar ideas. As a special educator, I want my students to not limit themselves because of the way the general public may perceive them and their disability. I want them to believe in themselves just as I believe in them because others have believed in me.
