TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Lava has been dubbed “The One Woman Movement” and “The Oprah of Poetry” by peers as she keeps her gift in motion by collaborating with local artists, businesses, government offices, churches and schools. She has written and published her own chapbooks, “Words Unspoken: Prelude to the Lava Experience” and "The Gospel According to Lava". In turn, Lava hosts her own seasonal poetry and talent showcase, LavaSoul Eruptions. As Lava compels you to “Listen to the words and let Lava flow,” she provides a platform and encourages other new artists to do the same.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is interactive. Students gravitate to the concepts of poetry through cooperative learning groups.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Lisa was educated in the Chicago Public Schools system. She attended Edward H. White Elementary and established an annual poetry contest for graduating 8th graders. Lava intends to do the same at each school she has attended, such as Corliss High School and Jones Commercial High School of Business & Commerce. Lisa received her Associates degree in Office Administration & Technology from South Suburban College and went on to study Business Administration at Robert Morris University. Along with her own life events, Lisa’s educational journey continues to have an underlying influence on her writing.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Lisa is the life-time spouse to Michael A. Rogers; mother of two rewarding daughters: Lauren and Michelle; business owner of Witty Inventions, Inc. and its "flowing" subsidiary, LavaInk! Poetry; and serves as Teen Ministry Coordinator and Church Administrator at her church.
