Le Fancy Fox

Rida has over 13 years of teaching experience in grades PreK to 2nd Grade. She is passionate and loves children, most especially younger students as they allow a more hands-on approach which Rida enjoys.

Tina is an illustrator and graphic designer with her own art practice since several years; online, she is also known as "Vervex". Over the years, she's worked on various branding, design, print, editorial and illustration with clients from all over North America and Europe.

Both Rida and Tina are very excited to embark on a new adventure; providing to teachers and children beautiful and useful resources for the classroom.

Rida generally enjoys a hands-on approach with her students. She likes using a variety of methods to teach a lesson including music and movement, as well as activities that require glue, crayons, cutting paper and glitter, materials unfortunately seen all too little in the upper grades! Additionally, she likes incorporating a variety of manipulatives such as Play-doh, pipe cleaners, legos, white boards, and technology such as ipads to keep her students engaged. She believes laughing and learning go hand in hand!

Rida graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Technology with an emphasis in Telecommunications and a minor in Psychology from the University of Central Texas now Texas A&M Central Texas. She acquired her teaching endorsement through Tarleton University's TMATE program while working towards a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction. She is certified in the areas of EC-4, Bilingual/ESL, Spanish 6-12 and earned an Instructional Leadership Certificate through Region 13 Education Service Center.

Tina has a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Design from Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Le Fancy Fox was founded by Rida Ortego and Tina Mailhot-Roberge, a passionate elementary school teacher and an experienced illustrator, who both saw an opportunity in creating beautiful, useful and playful educational tools for teachers around the world.

Having taught elementary students in the lower grade levels (Pre-K to Second Grade) during the last thirteen years, Rida understands that teaching through hands on activities and with visually appealing materials are essential in making learning fun and engaging for students. However, finding materials that are both engaging with grade level appropriate content for general ed and limited English proficient students has always been a challenge.

Seeing an opportunity, she teamed up with her daughter-in-law and illustrator Tina to produce creative solutions to real classroom problems, attempting by the same occasion to make the world a better place, one creation a time!
