TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Owned a preschool / childcare center for four years. Instructor to K - 12 in self reliance skills for two years in late 90's. Volunteer with Camp Fire USA for 14 years working with youth and adults. Student teaching in 2nd and 3rd grades in mid-90's. PTA / PTSA while my own children were in school. Completed a Bachelor of Arts in Special Ed. PreK-12th and Elementary Ed. K-8th along with my student teaching in Special Education (6th-8th) and Elementary (2nd) in 2013. A Washington state certified teacher. Substitute Teacher for K-12th in local school districts and completed my Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction in December 2016. One year (2017-18) as a 5th grade teacher in a neighboring school district. Took a year off for health issues then went back to teaching elementary students self reliance skills through youth organization in their clssrooms.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Since every student is a unique person, I treat them that way as I work to help them reach their maximum potential in learning. I do this by teaching the students, not the subjects in my classroom. I challenge each student to do their best but, still be able to succeed. Their learning goes beyond just being literate; students need to develop their communication skills and critical thinking while fostering their creativity and curiosity about learning. I help them to achieve this along with their personal goals for learning.
