I was a paraprofessional in Kindergarten for two years before returning to earn my bachelors in elementary education. Then I taught 2nd grade for eight years before being asked to teach 4th grade for three years. Currently I teaching gifted students in our REACH Program for grades 1-5. I love the experience of teaching all grade levels and challenging students to learn and grow each and everyday!
My teaching style best aligns with the constructivism philosophy. I truly believe that students must be actively engaged in learning with real life scenarios in order to build their own understanding of concepts. I also believe that once students can teach the concept to another student, me, or parents that they have a full understanding. In my classroom I also strive to foster a love of learning for life in each and every student.
