TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for more than 10 years, mostly in Kindergarten and First Grade. For the last 5 years I have been a Kindergarten teacher in international schools in China. Working with almost exclusively second and third language speakers has led me to develop products that help kids practice reading and writing skills in multiple ways so that repeated practice doesn't get boring or stale.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to play games and have fun with my students. I like activities to be creative and/or interactive. Even if a student needs basic practice reading CVC words from a a word list I like to add some fun by throwing in a die roll, or creating a coloring chart to graph their progress. Kids should value learning as a process of growth, but also see it as something fun and enjoyable that they would choose to do!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in Elementary Education from Boise State University in Idaho. I have taught overseas in multiple countries, and love working with students just beginning to learn to read. I have lots of experience working with second and third language learners, so I like to integrate visuals and vocabulary practice into a lot of what I do.

I currently live in Zhuhai, China where I teach Kindergarten at an international school. My husband and I have a 2 year old daughter. We love to travel and explore, but our favorite thing to do is eat new foods!
