My teaching experience includes 12 years in the classroom and I've taught from Grades 2 to 8. As well, I taught part-time at college level (Adobe Photoshop) while at university. Like other teachers, brainstorming ideas and actively constructing my own lessons, activities, multimedia presentations, and creative worksheets are important to me. If possible, I try to make learning fun for students and believe laughter, love and learning are essential!
My desire is to teach to as many learners as possible by making the learning net as wide as possible. For example, sometimes I’ll start a unit from an earlier grade level for struggling learners and will offer gifted students opportunities to excel at a higher-grade level. Like some teachers I enjoy integrating technology inside the classroom and use educational videos to supplement lessons when possible. I also enjoy creating my own multimedia presentations (PowerPoint) and building a unit that incorporates coordinated and matching handouts, etc. My ears are open to new knowledge and make a sincere effort to listen and learn from my students. This flow of knowledge nurtures a dynamic classroom environment, whereby learning is interesting and relevant to students interests and hobbies.
