I have been a science teacher on the Big Island of Hawaii for 12 years, and when I moved here from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 2005, my goal was to teach and learn about astronomy, biology, geology, and marine science in a beautiful living laboratory.
As an person that loves many scientific disciplines, I believe in training students to become expert observers of the world where they can learn through exploration. I have also been incorporating place-based service projects and Hawaiian culture in my teaching these days.
