I've been a teacher for many years and have taught in different countries, all with different systems. Australia, New Zealand, Djibouti, Mali, American schools in Yemen and South Korea and a Chinese school in Hong Kong!
My style is hard to describe. I try to help my students to be actively engaged in learning and to enjoy their years at school. I'm not afraid to try new ideas and I love using technology everywhere, not just at school.
My favorite honor/award was when one of my school principals (a wonderful American educator and person) would introduce me to others as a "Master Teacher". Another special memory is when a superintendent said he wished he could clone me. Most recently, my colleagues voted for me to receive a teaching award at my school in Hong Kong.
I grew up in Australia and gained my teaching qualification in New South Wales.
I've loved being a teacher! My career has taken me to many places in the world and I've had a great time. I'm now in New Zealand, getting used to life in a quiet country town after spending 10 years in bustling Hong Kong. I fell in love with Hong Kong, but my hubby prefers rural New Zealand. Sigh. :) I've slowed down a bit since coming here and am now semi-retired. I work with students with special educational needs at the local high school. I never want to stop being with children and young people.
