My teaching experience covers a span of over 11 years in public school in three different states (AL, KY, & TN). I have taught all grades PreK-6 and am currently a homeschooling mom of two little girls. In the past decade plus, I have taught in various settings including DOD schools, private summer enrichment camps, and multiple Title One schools, during which I experienced the technology wave as it swept through classrooms in its many forms. Having this tech-knowledge and the needed software programs at home, I can create any subject area material in almost any needed file type for your classroom use! Don't hesitate to ask me for anything!
I entered the world of education because I loved witnessing the spirit and curiosity of children. In college, I learned of Maria Montessori and the constructivist approach to education. I labeled myself a constructivist and have since become more eclectic in my educational philosophy, with my roots still similar to Montessori's practices. Guiding children to learn skills and strategies for success in life is a teacher's true goal.
Multiple achievements including the Dean's List, Honor Society, and an author of poetry award in college, Who's Who Alumni for Teachers, grants for the classroom recipient, and being part of over a decade's-worth of students' lives.
High School: Tennessee High School (Bristol) Colleges: Northeast State CC, Enterprise Junior College, Troy State University of Dothan, & Walden University. Professional training experiences: Wilson Reading, Lindamood Bell, Saxon, & Fundations.
I am a SAHM, just beginning the homeschooling experience with my own two daughters. I am pushing myself to try unschooling and apply more natural learning to their lives after leaving the public school sector and the intense curriculum & assessment overload states are pushing on students now.
