TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching for 34 years. I was an elementary science specialist for much of my career, but have been teaching gifted education for the last 12 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is geared to meet the needs of my students’ learning styles. Sometimes that's like spinning a dozen plates at once. To the untrained eye, this may look like chaos, but there is real, student centered learning going on...and that is not always quiet or neat. I am definitely the “guide on the side” in my classroom.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been Teacher of the Year for my school system and NASA Teacher of the Year for my state. I have written curriculum for my State Department of Education as well as several other state agencies I conduct workshops and trainings at the local, state, and national level.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BS in elementary education from The University of Alabama, a MS in elementary education from The University of Alabama in Birmingham, and a gifted specialist certification from The University of Alabama.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Mom, grandma, friend, widow, traveler, digital diva, list maker and closet crafter. I'm pretty sure that if a teacher ran the government, all our debt issues would be solved in short order.
