I am a speech-language pathologist with many years experience working in the school system, and in private practice. I have developed specialized materials to help students with learning challenges improve skills, and become more independent.
For every activity I have a goal or goals based on an assessment (initial and ongoing) of the student's ability in a particular area or with a particular skill. I use visual support routinely, and break tasks down into small steps that are achievable so the student has success. I help the student get the answer correct to allow errorless learning, and solidifying the correct response. Practice during regular learning sessions is important, always with a view to carry-over to real life situations. My ultimate goal is as much student independence as possible.
The honors I have received are from teachers and parents who have used my activities and products and thank me for helping their children learn.
I graduated from McGill University with a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. My undergraduate degree is a B.A. with a combined major in psychology and linguistics.
I am passionate about helping children with Down syndrome succeed. I have years of experience working with children and youth of all ages with Down syndrome. I have been sharing my knowledge with teachers through workshops for many years. I am happy to find TpT so I can support more teachers and speech-language pathologists working with students with Down syndrome.
