I have 7 years experience teaching students with mild/moderate disabilities in the self-contained classroom. I teach functional academics, life skills, and community skills. My focus is helping my students foster self confidence and a love for learning that will ultimately help them to become as independent as possible as an adult.
I use a lot of hands-on activities in my classroom. I prefer to teach my students one-one-one or in small groups, based on their individual needs. Each student in my classroom works at his/her own pace. My goal is for each of my students to be able to independently function in the classroom, at home, and within the community.
