I have been teaching for over 14 years in the country's quintessential inner-city school district. Teaching inner-city youth has been a pleasure, a struggle and a fight and it is something that I would never change for all of the money in the world, though a little more money to do it would be nice.
I want my students to be engaged and involved in their learning experience. My lessons are interactive, fun and relevant to their lives. I utilize technology in my classroom when ever possible and give my students scaffolds to assure they get what they need out of my lessons.
I have a mug that says, "worlds greatest dad," but that probably isn't too relevant here and over the years many students tell me I am their favorite teacher, but that probably doesn't count either. I've had more that a few students come back and visit while in, or after they have finished, college to tell me I was their best teacher. In terms of honors, that's the greatest ones I can imagine receiving.
In addition to my teaching credential, I hold a BA in English Literature and a MA in English Rhetoric and Composition. Like all of you, I have attended countless trainings and professional development over the years and I have taken my turn at presenting at more than a few.
I joined TpT to share some of what I have learned and developed over the years with you. I hope you use, modify and share what I have created and that it helps you become more effective in your classroom and it frees some time up for you at home. Enjoy!
