Kevin Kelly’s educational style was collaborative. He regularly worked with other science teachers and teachers of other disciplines to engage his students. He was a big proponent of Chemistry in the Community as a way to show his students the relevance of science in real world applications. For four years Kevin was a leader in an Arts Collaborative program that linked the Oliver High School chemistry curriculum with a local Pittsburgh Art Center to teach students Chemistry in relation to Ceramics and Photography. He tried to engage students in a variety of learning styles, and so his classes were a mix of lectures and labs with an abundance of time spent reviewing material through worksheets and quizzes.
