MY TEACHING STYLE

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

National Board Certified Teacher

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my bachelor's degree in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, while also taking an abundance of social studies courses, which allowed me to also get my endorsement in history. I taught in this field for two years. Then, my district needed me to work in inclusion. I followed the night courses of an administrator in our district to get my education for mild and moderate disabilities and received that endorsement six years ago. Immediately after that, I began preparing to receive my English endorsement and did so five years ago. My most recent education came in the form of completion of National Board Certification. I have currently been Nationally Board Certified for one year. I believe in project based learning, and creating lessons that provide a wide variety of differentiation within. I am blessed in the fact that my students results on state tests have shown that my methods work.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My husband and I have been married for eleven years and have three children. One son,10, has learning disabilities and the other, 8, is reading two grade levels above his peers, so I feel homework with my children has taught me more about teaching than college ever did. My daughter is currently just learning how to sit up, but she is absolutely precious while doing so.
