Mal Cooper hails from Aotearoa (New Zealand) where she was raised by sheep and lived off the land. She had always wanted to come to America and in 2001 she moved to Northern Arizona to complete her B.S with a major in photography and minor in graphic design. Since graduating in 2003 she has been published numerous times in the The New York Times. Other publications include, Sports Illustrated Golf Edition, New York Daily News, Pittsburg Chronicle-Gazette,The Dallas Morning News, Arizona Daily Sun, 944, Studios and Sedona Magazine. She has won numerous awards in photojournalism and has exhibited her work in galleries in Sedona. In 2014 she travelled to Nicaragua and worked as the photographer for the humanitarian group HERO. She currently teaches photography at a high school in Sedona where she imparts her passion of photography with eager young minds.
