I have six years of teaching middle school math, pre-algebra, and algebra to sixth, seventh, and eighth graders under my belt. Three of those years were teaching at inner-city charter schools and three were at a suburban middle school. I love to use cooperative learning, technology, and projects to make learning fun and relevant.
SMART Boards are one of my favorite teaching tools ever! Watching the light bulbs go off and seeing my students smile as they interact with math is the best! In my class, we create Interactive Student Notebooks (ISNs) to help organize notes, work, and improve study skills. I also have my students use reading strategies in my math class with notes and word problems. My students and I create a learning environment where we are willing to take academic risks and support each other.
All of my 8th grade students passed the state assessment (2008-2009). Kappa Delta Pi, Kappa Mu Epsilon, Sigma Tau Delta
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College, specializing in mathematics, reading, and language arts for grades 4 through 9. My minors were English literature and psychology at Baldwin-Wallace College. I also have my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction for Mathematics (K-8) from Concordia University.
My beautiful son is nearly 3 and constantly makes my husband and I proud!
