I have taught 6th grade social studies for the last 15 years and have loved every minute of it!
My approach to social studies education is interactive, hands-on, and exploratory. I prefer to use primary source documents, artifacts, music, poetry, artwork, picture books and informational texts, documentary films, various technologies, guests, field trips, and other sources to bring history to life in my classroom.
In 2011, I was named the Gilder Lehrman Arkansas History Teacher of the Year.
I earned my B.S.E. in 1996 from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and my M. Ed. in 2005 from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
I love teaching and I love creating new tools for student learning. I hope you'll find something here that you can use to help immerse your own students in history!
