TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for four years. In those four years I have worked in a variety of positions. I started out teaching Reading Intervention part time (while completing my Master's degree). After graduating with my Master's degree, I got a full time position as a Special Education teacher working with 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade classes. After a year in Special Education, I decided I wanted to have my own classroom. My first year with my own classroom I taught 5th grade and now I am currently teaching 3rd grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I truly believe that students of all ages need to learn using multiple methods. Therefore, in my classroom, I try to integrate multiple learning styles into my lessons. For reading, I try to focus on direct and small group instruction, allowing time for students to read and write independently. For science and math, I feel that most students learn best through exploration. During science and math, I try to plan lessons that allow students to interact with each other and work with materials.
