TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my 20th year of teaching. I spent my first three years in the classroom teaching second and third grades and then was fortunate enough to become the librarian at my PK-8 school. I absolutely LOVE my job!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Reading is my passion and I work very hard to inspire a love of reading in every student who comes through the library door. I am a great believer in the 4 C’s of education – critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity – and I incorporate them as often as I can. Every learner is unique so I use a variety of teaching techniques including both independent and collaborative group work. Students have the opportunity to move and talk while they are learning but we ALWAYS have down time to JUST READ!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Nothing "official", but making the library a fun place that students want to visit is the best honor!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA English, Elementary Education Certification, Library Science Certification

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love attending conferences and workshops, following other amazing educators and authors on social media, and growing my PLN. Learning, growing and connecting with other educators helps me to inspire and encourage my students.
