I taught combination classes (K-1, 1-2, 2-3) at South Park Family School, a public, parent-involved elementary school in Victoria, BC for 25 years. During that time I wrote 3 books based on my teaching methods that were published by Scholastic Publications ("Learning Together" (US title: "Managing and Integrated Language Arts Classroom"), "Evaluation: A Team Effort", and "Student-Led Parent Conferences." Over 40,000 copies were sold while they were in print. I have presented at many workshops and presented at primary conferences over the years and this summer I spoke at the Kindergarten Institute at the University of Victoria.
I organize open-ended, hands-on, interest-driven, creative programs as much as possible. Students learn best when they are very involved with their studies.
I was awarded the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence in 2003.
BA in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley and Elementary Teaching Certificate from the University of California, Santa Barbara
