I am a Primary Intevention Specialist at an inner-city school in Ohio. I work with students with Mild-Moderate disabilities, and my materials are formatted to cover the Common Core Standards. They are modified to fit the needs of students who need intensive differentiation and support.
I am flexible, but plan each day with a framework for what we will work on. I allow each student to open up to me and to each other, as I believe that a supportive and nurturing classroom environment is the best place a child can learn. I work to accommodate each student's individual learning needs and styles through differentiation, hands-on activities, kinesthetic learning, and unique approaches to conventional lessons.
I was awarded Ohio Association of Teacher Educators Outstanding Student Teacher of the Year in March 2013. I was nominated for the National Student Teacher of the Year award in June 2013, and made it to the final round. Unfortunately, I lost, but was honored to have been nominated!
I graduated from The Ohio State University with my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2010. I graduated from Xavier University with my Master's Degree in Education with a specialization in Special Education in 2013. I am licensed as a K-12 Mild-Moderate Intervention Specialist in Ohio.
I am currently seeking my Reading Endorsement in the state of Ohio as a student in the Reading Science Program at the College of Mount St. Joseph. I am spending my summer becoming Orton-Gillingham trained!
