TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math for 2 years at the middle school level, in addition to being a teachers assistant at the college level. I currently teach science for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade at a private school in MA in addition to 7th grade Math and a Technology and Engineering specialty class for 7th and 8th graders using the SeaPerch project as a basis. I am active within the community in further developing methods for integrating STEM not only within our current science curriculum but in the arts as well and throughout the K-8 school. I collaborate with other schools in the area to further improve my practices and share ideas. I have also attended NSTA science and STEM forum conferences which have been amazing at expanding my knowledge and allowing me to transition my class to be more hands on through project based learning.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I focus on the integration of all STEM disciplines within my science curriculum. Specifically I love to integrate technology and add in engineering design projects that relate to the science we are learning about in class to give students a real-world hands on example.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I earned my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and my PhD. in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. This has given me strengths in teaching Science and specifically I love teaching biology, physics, and engineering.
