TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach students aged birth to 22 with orthopedic impairments. Over the last 20 years I have taught special ed to all grades K-12 except for middle school. In addition, I taught 3 years of general ed third grade. I have implemented many models of special ed services: pull out and push in/full inclusion for kids working on grade level goals, and self-contained classes with students working more at their own level. This summer I did something new - I taught a medically fragile moderate/severe class at a county center-based site and ended up loving it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to think of myself as an academic coach: training and equipping, then cheering on my students as they meet their goals. "Love is a better teacher than duty." -Albert Einstein

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was honored to be the "Teacher of the Year" at my school and finalist for the district in 2014 and 1994. I have also enjoyed being a master teacher for CSU, Fresno student teachers, as well as a mentor for colleagues as they earn additional credentials. Finally, I have been blessed by the generosity of others who have funded my projects on donorschoose.org, so I use a portion of my TpT profits to help other teachers who post projects on Donors Choose.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Degrees: M.A. Special Education, B.A. Liberal Studies. California credentials include: Multiple Subjects (K-6), Mild/Moderate Disabilities (preschool-12), Orthopedic Impairment Authorization, Autism Authorization, Resource Specialist Certificate, CLAD credential (Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development).
