I have taught kindergarten, second, third, and fourth grades over the past 27 years. I have taught in three public schools in Mississippi.
Three words that best describe me as a teacher: facilitator, encourager, and organizer. I like to give the students ownership of their learning. I feel like it means more to them, and increased meaning yields increased learning. My favorite classroom moments are when the kids end up teaching me something I didn't know (happens often) or when they are actively involved in teaching other students. The act of discovery in learning is also very important to me, and I try to provide those discovery moments by providing a well organized, safe, and non-threatening environment for my kids.
