Hello. I had a beautiful moment my first day back at school this year. I was rubbing work off the whiteboard during recess and I was overwhelmed with a sense of purposeful peace - teaching is who I am! I have taught Home Economics subjects for 18 years, from Grade 6-12 and I have also lectured at Tertiary level for 6 years, in the Textiles field. My passion for sewing has seen my cloth art dolls tour America in travelling exhibitions and wearable art selected as finalists in Australian wearable art exhibitions. My passion for baking has stretched me out into catering, recently catering for a number of functions. Recently I have run a felt workshop at Manifest Arts Festival at Avondale College.
My classroom is a space for collaborative learning, developing creative thinking, and encouraging independence. Through practical skills students design, learn to work in a team, understand nutrition and food science, and learn about materials and technologies. Children become independent thinkers in life-long skills, wrapped in positive encouragement.
