I began my teaching experience as a teaching associate when I was working on my graduate degree in Japanese Linguistics. I taught beginning Japanese to undergraduate students in one-on-one sessions and as a classroom teacher/instructor. During this time, I also tutored English to elementary Japanese students. I focused mainly on reading skills such as phonics and reading comprehension. Several years later, I decided to obtain a teaching license in early childhood education and I taught the 3rd grade during my student teaching experience. I have worked with students pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade as well during my in-classroom experience.
In my teachings, I incorporate engaging activities such as student-led discovery and build up a lesson by asking many questions that connect students' experiences to the new topic. I make the content relatable to the students not only to grab their attention but to make it memorable. I believe that all students can learn so long as the teacher considers the learning style of the student.
