TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My teaching career began in first grade, but I am currently teaching 5th/6th Literature. I spend summers teaching incoming kindergartners reading readiness skills.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classroom runs primarily as an inquiry based environment. While I do instruct and direct, my students are expected to participate in their learning, take risks and think for themselves. The teaching resources I have created allow great opportunities for differentiated instruction.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

With the onset of teacher evaluations, I have received Highly Effective three years in a row.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

In 2003 I received a BA Degree in Elementary Education. I have since earned endorsements in Middle School Math, Social Studies and Language Arts. Most recently, I have earned my Master's Degree in Educational Administration and am currently licensed as a teacher and administrator. I am also a Google Certified Teacher.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Over the past three years, I have created curriculum maps for first, fifth and sixth grade language arts. These maps met both Common Core and the new Indiana Academic Standards. I have spent extensive time in elementary classrooms as a mentor and peer evaluator, which allows me to keep a pulse on the needs of students in all grades K-6. At our school corporation's ERevoluation Conference, I served as a presenter for incorporating technology into the classroom.
