TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 14 years of teaching experience and have taught everyone from high school freshmen to English majors in upper level University classes. In every class, at every level, I have the same goal: to share my love of literature, my love of writing, and my love of nerding out with scholarly discussions and activities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classroom is student-centered, discussion-oriented, and focused on real-world connections and opportunities. I love getting students to approach topics from new angles. I love it when a new idea "clicks" (this happens every year when we talk about Plato!). I love it when students think in creative ways. My work here reflects these ideas.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I've been nominated for several teaching awards. I've also published academically and spoken at several literary conferences. But mostly, I'm pretty thrilled about the book of funny test answers I got from a student this year.
