I have taught first and second grade for 4 years before beginning this tpt journey. Prior to teaching elementary, I spent a few years in a preschool, where I fell in love with teaching. I absolutely love being in the classroom, especially K-2. I am definitely a primary educator at heart. I love creating hands-on activities for my students and thought I'd share that passion with the rest of the teaching community.
I am a hands-on teacher who loves to incorporate thematic units into her classroom. I believe in play and art and fun experiences, as they are the best ways to engage our young learners. I believe in growth mindset and the power of yet. I make my kiddos support their answers using the word "because." I teach them manners and kindness before anything else. I don't have a strong background in ASL but I do teach my students the alphabet as well as simple commands, and each year I learn new words with them. I don't follow the exact "recipe" for a responsive classroom, but I love the philosophy. I do ALWAYS include a morning meeting and a closing meeting. And I learn different languages with my classes during this time. I believe that learning is fun, and should be for everyone!
I am Bronze Level Certified in Whole Brain Teaching and hold my Level 1 Google Educator certificate. I am working towards the next level in each of these certifications, as well as on a Masters degree. I truly believe that learning should continue for your whole life, as I know there is so much that I don't understand yet.
