TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been blessed to have six years of successful teaching under my belt! For my first three years, I taught outside of Baltimore, Maryland. For my fourth year, I taught in a private, American school in Quito, Ecuador. For the last two years, I've been teaching in Virginia. I've taught a wide variety of courses that include: Grade 10 MYP (part of the IB curriculum), Strategic Reading (a remediation course for high school students that are struggling readers), Humanities (an English elective course), Creative Writing, Yearbook, Advanced English 10, Grade 11 in the International Baccalaureate Program, on-level English 11, and on-level English 12.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy challenging my students to read current, modern, and relevant texts that take on a variety of modes. I enjoy mixing poetry with nonfiction texts, photography with short story, film with novels, tweets with narratives, etc. I like to incorporate as many best-practice strategies into my lessons, and require a high level of rigor on each and every activity. You'll find a huge variety of resources in my store -- if you don't see something you need, simply ask me and I would be willing to create it for you!
