TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Amy has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist for two and a half years and has advanced training in the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, sensory processing difficulties and feeding problems such as picky eating. Amy often creates worksheets that she uses daily in her own practice and for social groups that she has developed over the years.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Amy received her Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam in Speech Communication with a minor in Business Administration. She received her Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from Utica College in New York.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Amy has worked with children with special needs for over 10 years as a live-in nanny for a family with disabilities, as a youth advocate for at-risk youth, as an outdoor therapeutic recreation counselor for juvenile delinquent males with mental health disorders, as a paraprofessional and as a substitute teacher. In 2013, she spent 2 weeks volunteering at an outpatient clinic in Haiti, providing free therapy to children and adults with cerebral palsy and hemiplegia post stroke. She has coached elementary and middle school basketball. Amy was born and raised in upstate New York, spending most of her time playing sports, hiking and reading. She currently lives in El Paso with her husband Michael, who is an officer in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Bliss. They rescued a boxer named Riley together!
