TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Little Problem Solvers is a husband-wife duo. Emily prepares daily activities in computational thinking and problem solving for their children. The best activities are refined and sold here. Emily has prepared dozens of activities for pre-K children and enjoys using her own home as a laboratory. Grant is a former computer science teacher and district administrator. He currently works as the Director of Education for codeSpark, Inc, creators of codeSpark Academy and the lovable Foos. He has led #CSforAll initiatives at multiple school districts in multiple states across the nation and has developed computer science curricula and standards for organizations including Code.org, codeSpark, Kodable, Family Code Night, Micro:Bit, and many more including school districts. He has served on national computer science education panels as an expert consultant. He is also one of the authors of the 2017 CSTA Computer Science Standards. In the Summer of 2019 his text book for middle school computer science will be published by Workman Publishing and sold domestically and internationally.

Constructivism! Seymour Papert is behind everything we do. We try to emulate his teaching philosophies in everything we do.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In 2015 Grant won the Digital Promise/EdSurge Digital Innovation in Learning Award for his work in bringing computer science to all students in a K-8 school district.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Emily is a Scientist with a B.S. in Medical Laboratory Sciences. Grant has a B.S. in Information Systems, a Masters of Education Technology, and started his Doctor of Education Degree at Johns Hopkins University in Education Technology.
