TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have extensive experience with children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. Most recently I have been room leader of a 12 place nursery room in a fantastic early years service, and am now on maternity leave with my first baby.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am heavily influenced by RIE, Reggio Emilia and Montessori practices and theories. I believe the curriculum should always be based around children's interests and needs, extending on the learning that is happening organically, and advocate for respectful teaching based on the forming of strong relationships. For older children I love educating by way of a project approach: the topic (i.e. clouds, a particular book, dinosaurs) is incorporated into as many aspects of the room as possible. I believe this is important in two ways- children are involved and engaged because they are leading their own learning; and they are actively making connections constantly.
