TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked extensively with students in Pre Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade as a classroom teacher to provide balanced literacy instruction. I have also worked with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, as a math specialist to provide intensive instruction to low achieving students and quality professional development to faculty. I was the Literacy Collaborative Coordinator at an elementary building. While serving in this position I have had the opportunity to co-teach in an observation classroom, design and provide professional development for K, 1, and 2 grade teachers, offer a 3-credit, graduate level course in effective early literacy instruction, and coach K, 1, and 2 teachers around best instructional practices in balanced literacy instruction. Most recently I went back into the classroom and will be starting my 5th year in Kindergarten. Love my Kinder friends!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that all students can be successful in all areas when they are supported with balanced literacy instruction. I believe that this includes a balance of direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice. All of my units are interdisciplinary, differentiated, and inquiry based.
