I am a reading specialist as well as being ESL and ELA certified. I've just completed 9 years as a secondary educator, but have been teaching adult education for much longer. I was also a home school Mom when my daughter was in high school. During my first year of teaching, I had to write the materials for a new literature-based curriculum at a faith-based high school. Since then, I've written lots of reading guides for my students and hope you and your students will benefit from them, too. If you don't see something you are looking for here, let me know. I may have it on the back burner!
I use a lot of Socratic questioning, and expect my learners to answer higher order thinking questions. I believe we learn best when we discover things for ourselves, so I'm a constructivist. That said, I model new concepts and use a lot of graphic organizers. I'm always changing things up and adding new things!
None yet :)

Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a freelance photographer and a graphic designer. I still love taking photographs, and enjoy writing (nonfiction, short fiction, and songs) and painting. In 2011, I recorded a new solo CD project, "Well SEASONED," and in 2012, I published my first book: "Cafeteria Covenant - the Voice, the Choice, and the Challenge." I hope to be writing and illustrating children’s books soon and will also be launching an online learning academy for secondary through adult students!
