I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kyrgyz Republic from 2010 - 2012, where I taught ESL to grades 3 - 11. After my service, I moved to New York City and pursued a Master's Degree in Education. This year is my third year teaching Special Education Math in a middle school in the South Bronx.
I like to scaffold and support the lower students while providing challenges and extensions for the higher-functioning students. I like to relate Math to the real world, and to contemporary issues that my students face. I like to build opportunities for critical thinking, as well as collaboration with the Humanities.
