TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Effectively building communication skills with visuals and strategies! Over 35 years as a school SLP convinced me of their value for special needs and at-risk learners. Now working full time on TpT, I'm happy to make your life easier with research-based, visually supported materials I was always searching for but couldn't find!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Learning and communication occur best in an environment of mutual respect and enjoyment. Kids learn better and apply skills more easily when learning is fun! The use of pictures, visuals, and strategies aid all learners and lead to more success when teaching students with disabilities. I know how time-consuming that providing pictures can be, so I'm happy to help make it easier for you!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Awards and certificates come and go, but those treasured moments.... a child saying her name clearly for the first time... the boy who asks with words instead of tantrums ... the teacher who said I made a difference for her... the mom who cried because she was so happy... the SLPs who thanked me for helping them...Those are the moments I cherish.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.A. I double majored in psychology and speech/language pathology. My M.A. is in speech/language pathology with post-graduate studies in the areas of autism, reading, education, emotional disturbances, and social language problems.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

A speech/language pathologist living in New York, I am so happy to be sharing what has worked for me! My experience includes: * students with autism across the spectrum. * hearing impaired students. * preschool students with a variety of disabling conditions. * mainstreamed students with language/learning disabilities. * students with emotional/behavioral needs requiring special programs.
