TEACHING EXPERIENCE

17 years as an Elementary General Music Teacher, Elementary Choir Director, and Low Brass Private and Small Group Teacher in Northwest Indiana.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am enthusiastic, fast-paced, and high energy. I love for the kids to walk in the door learning - and loving it - and keep going until it's time to leave. I have an eclectic background, drawing from Orff, Feierabend, modern band, and more. I have developed my own methods and materials for teaching beginning recorders and ukuleles in the elementary general music setting.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

2013 Indiana Outstanding Elementary Music Educator of the Year. 2015 Music In Our Schools Bus Tour Stop winner (Elementary Choir). Awarded many grants from local and national organizations throughout the years. I have also presented at the Indiana Music Education Association Annual Professional Development Conference several times on various topics, including my ukulele method and materials. In 2016 I presented at the NAfME conference in Grapevine, TX to share my ukulele method and materials.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BME from Valparaiso University (2000), MME from Boston University (2010)
