TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an elementary teacher for 20 years and a former family day care owner for 8 years. I have taught all subjects 1st through 6th grades. I am a life long learner and continually work on honing skills and strategies. Utilizing technology in my classroom is an area of passion and one in which I strive to grow each year.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is pretty simple. I teach my students as if they were my very own kids. I am hands on every day. I am very lucky that my district participates in GLAD. I am even luckier to be in a 1:1 classroom with iPads for each of my 5th graders.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Honored by my staff to have been chosen to serve them in numerous leadership roles, including site and district leadership teams, along with our teachers' union president. I also serve on CTA's State Council and have represented California at the NEA Representative Assembly.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have an Associates, Bachelors, and a Masters. But hands on, in classroom experience is where I really learned to teach.

I have been married to the love of my life for 30 years. We have 3 twenty something year old children. Who knew they would be more work now than when they were 2? I am still pursuing every dream I have. Life is short, make the most of it, and don't leave coulda shoulda woulda's on the table.
