I have been teaching full-time since 1988. I have taught at both the middle school and elementary school levels. I have taught self-contained ESE and worked as an inclusion ESE resource teacher, but have found my niche as a general education 4th grade teacher since 2005.
I LOVE TEACHING! If you love what you do then it is never work! I I would describe my style of teaching as engaging and active.I find that I am able to break down complex tasks into simpler ones in order to meet the learning needs of all my students.
Pinellas County Teacher of the Year - 1998 ESE Teacher of the Year - 1998
I should have listened to my mother who told me from a very young age "I would make a great teacher!" But I had to find my own path to this profession. So I have a Bachelors degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Florida. I have a Master's degree in Adapted Physical Education from the University of New Orleans. Plus over 50 collegiate hours post Master's to just meet certification requirements in both Arizona and Florida in Elementary Education, English Speakers of Other Languages, Specific Learning Disabilities and Physical Education. Lesson learned - listen to your mother!
I am the mother of two amazing adult daughters, a dog and a cat.
