I started my elementary teaching career in 1988, working primarily in grades 2-4. For most of the last decade, I was a reading interventionist, teaching one-on-one and small groups of K-6 students on individualized learning plans. Now you can find me on my Poetry for Teaching Facebook Page and my Poetry for Teaching Blog
I would describe my teaching style as creative, but very targeted. As an interventionist, I usually had about 20-25 minutes for each lesson...so every moment had to count! I've always loved reading, writing (and collecting) poetry, but I started writing short, phonics targeted poetry because it allowed me to pack a lot of content into a very limited amount of instructional time. I strive to write curriculum which excites kids of all abilities to learn, while helping teachers to teach it quickly, creatively, and without a lot of prep.

My husband and I have been married for 29 years. We have two incredible young adult children and one very needy King Charles Spaniel. We recently retired from the chilly Colorado winters to sunny Southern California, where I now write full-time...and love it!
