TEACHING EXPERIENCE

7 years as a middle school Chinese teacher, 10+ years as a private piano teacher, 3 years as a Chinese tutor

MY TEACHING STYLE

Through inter-school collaboration, outreach, interactive learning activities, and accommodating different learning styles, I am able to greatly engage students to learn Chinese. Many students signed up for my class because they had heard how much fun they could have while learning Chinese! I build up students’ confidence, continually offer encouragement, and show them that they CAN do it. I treat students with respect, and in return, they show appreciation for all I do for them.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Increased enrollment in Chinese language classes nearly twentyfold from 3 students in 2010 to 59 in 2018 Authored and published a global awareness article in the Ensights Magazine by Ensworth (pages 24-25) 2013 – Completed a 30-hour course in Chinese Phonetics and Lesson Plan Design at the Chinese Culture University in Taiwan 2010 – Completed STARTALK Summer Programs and received credits for Chinese teaching Methods and Practicum through Indiana University and University of Colorado
