Currently writing curriculum, but always an educator! I was a classroom teacher for eight years and taught French, English, Speech, Creative Writing, and Reading Intervention throughout those wonderful eight years. Now, I spread the love throughout 20 schools in the city of Chicago with an SEL focused curriculum that inspires and encourages all youth to realize their dreams.
I believe in a balanced approach to education, one in which the students have as much voice in the room as the teacher. It's important to me to meet students where they're at, but also challenge them to take things to the next level. In my classroom, the desks were always changing location, groups were always in the mix, and reading, writing, and speaking was a part of every day, no matter what language we were speaking!
Yet to be added
I grew up in a small town in Michigan and had a very traditional, teacher at the front, students in their seats educational experience. I found my first passions in my English and French classes, and that passion grew into something real when I visited Europe for the first time after graduating high school. I continued my education at Western Michigan University and then received my Masters Degree in Reading Instruction in Chicago. I continue to learn every day from the young people I encounter, from my colleagues, and from this ever-changing world we live in.
Originally a Michigander, I now call Chicago home. A runner, a reader, and a lover of words. You can find me most days trying to find some "urban nature" to explore, cooking new recipes, or taking classes for any one of my current curiosities. I'm a true life-long learner who hopes to share the passion of teaching with all of you!
