I've never taught a grade I didn't like and have taught almost every grade from K-12 in both public in private schools, stateside and abroad. I have the most experience teaching 4th grade where I am entering my 5th year. Prior to that, I taught 2nd grade for 2 years, 7th and 8th for 5 years, 6th grade for 2 years, and 11th and 12th for a year.
We are a Responsive Classroom school, so that has a lot to do with my teaching style.
Every year I, along with the rest of the staff, receive water bottles for our hard work.

I was born and raised in Chicago and decided to become a teacher during my last year of college. Instead of coming back to Chicago, I moved to Philadelphia where I studied Elementary Education. I taught middle school with The School District of Philadelphia for three years. Then, in 2004, after considerable research about teaching overseas, I attended the Overseas Teaching Fair at the University of Northern Iowa and secured a one year contracted teaching position in Guyama, Puerto Rico. Guayama is rural coastal town about an hour south of San Juan. In addition to teaching middle school Latin American History and 12th grade Psychology, I loved learning how to surf, practicing my Spanish, and learning about Latin American History. I returned to Chicago to teach in 2006 and have taught in 7th and 8th grade Social Studies in Logan Square and here, in Wicker Park. This will be my 5th year teaching 4th grade. Prior to which, I taught 2nd grade for two years.
