TEACHING EXPERIENCE

30 years in Huber Heights City Schools (general music, instrumental, glee clubs, musicals). 17 summers at Culver Woodcraft Camp as band director and chief bugle instructor.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Rote by demonstration. Gaming activities to keep kids involved. Various performance opportunities (band, choir, musicals, talent shows, grade level programs, and a "melodica band.) As much movement activity for the primary kids as my ol' legs and lungs will allow. It's never enough. Provide numerous opportunities for youngsters to earn "points" for their grade , (I abhor giving every kid a "satisfactory" so parents will not ask for conference time.) Utilize DVRs, VCRs only when absolutely necessary.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Exceptional signed accolades by HHCS Board of Education and City of Huber Heights upon retirement. Presented my bag of tricks at Ohio Music Education Association convention Promoted to "Major" at Culver Woodcraft Camp ahead of peers. Outstanding Freshman Marcher, BGSU Falcon Marching Band

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor of Music Education, Bowling Green State University - 1974 Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Engagement, Antioch University McGregor, 2010

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I can write a verse right now on cue - Some are good, some are worse, it works out, thank you - Computer notation is one of my best friends - Due to my manuscript 'tis a great "instead" - Have created games, parodies, songs and games - Some of them are great, but a few are lame - With the money I earn from this here venture - I may go right out and buy brand new dentures - Perhaps I'm a legend in my own thinker - But, that's what one gets from an ornery stinker
